Apart from all its other merits, Stonebringer is simply a great read.

Young Niles and his buddy Cley meet in a poor mining village and after their village is torn apart by an attack of slavers, they are launched into an adventure of immense proportions, meeting all kinds of wild and wacky characters along the way, and, after facing a great deal of adversity, find themselves in triumph.

Parts of this book are astoundingly gripping; you get on the ride at the beginning of the chapter and, what seems like minutes later, find yourself breathless at the end.

Tom lovingly describes the imaginary world of Stonebringer with rich, verdant detail, and my favourite bits are where he describes the nature, making it so real you can feel yourself sinking into it in relief, or shrinking away in disgust.

    Definitely a worthwhile book.
